History
French are born connoisseurs. Their pursuit on quality products and life lead to the success of the world’s top brands, such as Channel, Dior, Givenchy, LV and more. This blessing is very notable on their perpetual fever on fine dining, and thus the gourmet authority Michelin born with a mission to guard the gastronomic trend.
Though Michelin was famed for more than 100 years, but it is new to most Chinese. The mainland China has not yet drawn any Michelin stars, and Hong Kong and Macau were lately caught Michelin’s interest in 2009 and had the first Michelin Hong Kong & Macau 2009 published. That doesn’t mean China is lack of excellent restaurant or culinary artists; whereas, China is a gourmet heaven with infinite treasures to be discovered.
Milestone
The Michelin two-star chef Mak Kip Fu has been working as executive chef in top restaurants in Beijing, Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau and other cities. He worked for the Michelin three-star Chinese restaurant Lung King Heen at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong as executive chef and later worked for the Michelin two-star Chinese restaurant Zi Yat Heen at the Four Seasons Hotel Macau in 2009.
Chef Mak started his first cooking job at Fook Lam Moon Restaurant in 1968. With more than forty years’ culinary experience, he is the master in taste as well as restaurant services, dining environment and perennial pursues for the supreme fine dining standard.
In January 2011, Chef Mak and his Michelin Star team start to work at the new restaurant in the Grand Bay View Hotel, Zhuhai, offering locals the authentic Michelin taste.
Chef Mak Kip Fu and His Michelin Gourmet Team
Chef Mak, the renowned chef in the gourmet world, extracts a kaleidoscope of flavors to create Chinese cuisine, attracting food connoisseurs to follow over years.
Chef Mak worked as executive chef in top restaurants in Beijing, Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau and other cities. In 2008, He worked for the Lung King Heen at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong which was rated the Michelin three-star Chinese restaurant. Later in 2009, he was transferred to Zi Yat Heen at the Four Seasons Hotel Macau. One year after his appointment, the restaurant was rated the Michelin two-star Chinese restaurant. In 2011, Chef Mak once again worked with Zi Yat Heen and achieved the Michelin 2-star rating for the restaurant at a second time.
Chef Mak was appointed the executive chef of Grand Elite Chinese Restaurant at the Grand Bay View Hotel, Zhuhai in January 2011. Together with his six teammates, Chef Mak will fulfill his mission to offer locals the authentic Michelin experience. Deng Jinlie, another key member of the team is the Michelin one-star dimsum chef who has been appointed at top restaurants. Other team members are all gourmet artists who will tailor an impeccable feast at Grand Elite.
